Mexican Restaurant On The Square
Ok so here is the first review….and its not good!! I went to that Mexican Restaurant on the square in Watertown. I think its called Mimmis or something like that. The name is meaning less as is the food and service. If this place is Mexican then I must be from…well some place that doesnt know what food is. I went in with a friend at 6pm on Saturday night. Now you have to understand I dont normally go to eat dinner on Saturday nights as I have to be at the place I work to open up but hey I figure once in a while is fine. So we went in. As soon as we go in I see there are 5 people at the bar and 1 table taken. I should have had bells and whistles going off as it was Saturday night-military pay week-and every other place in town was packed. But hey maybe its just the best kept secret in town right? WRONG!!!!!
We sat down and ordered poppers for appetizers ,my friend orders chicken casideas (not sure if you spell it that way but doesnt much matter cause it wasnt what she ordered anyway) and I ordered a shrimp feista salad. Now tell me is this a very hard order? mmmmm Maybe they had to go catch the shrimp and chicken fresh??
Well the poppers took 25 minutes… I know this cause my boss called at exactly when I was ordering and they came when I hung up. Guess i should have known better and kept talking maybe the food would have magically become better or something. The poppers were decent but how bad can you make something out of the box from Sams Club?
My friends chicken things came right after we finished the poppers. Now it was suppose to be chicken but basically some breading with cheese and they just kinda walked the chicken through the bread. But here is the question….where was my dam shrimp??? The waitress said they had made my order wrong and it would be just a little longer. Ok I think “hey as long as its good I dont really care how long it takes”. It finally came…now does anyone know what a shrimp feista salad should look like? Well the people at mimmis or whatever the place is called sure as hell dont! I got a cup about the size of a large tea cup with 4 shrimp and some salad. Where is the shell i asked? The waitress just said something snotty. “oooo baby dont be rude to me sweety pie!!!” I told her “look just take it away I am not paying for this give us a box and I will pay for what we ate we have to leave.” Miss personality then said something else snotty and I said send the owner out please…..
A guy comes out from the kitchen (not the owner I might ad) I told him the problem, told him i didnt feel I should pay for the meal and how I was tempted to write a blog abut his business. He said “well if it makes you feel better to get a free meal then thats fine” Wow these people just make you feel all warm and fuzy all over dont they? I left didnt pay for the meal and now wonder….is there any good mexican food in Northern New York????
So to sum it all up the place on the square sucks, and they dont care about you as a customer.
STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First off, if you are going to have a blog where people can read your comments, you should really use spellcheck. Have a great day.

Great idea for a blog. I’ve been thinking of doing the same thing. There are so many restaurants and stores up here that have no idea what good customer service is about. I’m not from here, so I have something to compare it too. We love it up here except for the lack of decent restaurants. To date, after 2 years here, we have not found one restaurant (Mexican or otherwise) worth going back for. We have 3 Mexican restaurants in our area and every one of them sucks! Really, the only way to have a good Mexican restaurant is to have real Mexicans run it and that’s not going to happen in the North Country, is it?
Look on the bright side. Think of all the money we save by not going out to eat!
I hope you keep up the blog and allow others to post reviews as well.
